3 Day Retreat

The purpose of the 3-Day Orientation Retreat is for you to discover your gifts and talents. During this three-day intensive process, we will use the Find Your Fit program to help you understand your life and spiritual gifts, personality type, and passions. We will have daily devotionals to encourage, motivate, energize and prepare you for what lies ahead. This Orientation Retreat sets the groundwork for the 10-Day Academy Experience. After discovering your areas of giftedness and being challenged about new ways of thinking, your hearts and minds will be awakened and reinvigorated with new potential for leadership.

2 Week Academy
Change the way you think about leadership!

The Academy is an intensive two-week experience of scholarship, self-discovery, artistic expression, and service learning at a local Christian college. The Academy will be filled with opportunities for growth in relationships and knowledge as we reside together on campus. Our teaching focuses on:

  * The Call to Leadership
  * Theology
  * Service-Learning
  * Justice and Racial Reconciliation
  * Creative Witness of the Arts
  * Preparing for the Future
  * Major Christian Thinkers and Doers
  * Relationships as a Leader

The teaching is designed to be highly interactive, motivational and active-reflective. Each student will be assigned to a primary group, led by one of our teachers. The afternoons of the Academy are devoted to actual hands on Service Learning. Different sites are chosen and the students are able to take the principles they were learning and put them into practice out in the community.

As we explore our leadership, we strive to deepen our faith. The Academy will include daily worship and chapel times, small group discussion times, and visits to diverse local churches.

1 Year of Leadership
Once ULA participants have completed the first two phases, they are prepared to take the skills and knowledge they have acquired and put them to use in a 10-month service project. With guidance provided by a Christian leader mentor at monthly mentoring meetings, ULA participants make a meaningful contribution to their community and church through their very own Service Project.

Our Results
With the experience of the Urban Leadership Academy, young people are equipped with the resources to be leaders in their communities and their churches, to help others and to have a positive impact on the world. Many of our participants go on to pursue a life of service in urban areas, as community leaders, mentors and members of the ministry. Not only that, our participants serve the community while they complete the ULA program our students have contributed over 60,000 hours of commu-nity service to date in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
