Executive Director
Stephen Crawford is the Executive Director of Urban Leadership, an organization designed to inspire young emerging leaders to grow personally while enhancing their influence in their places of work, study, and service. He has been in leadership roles for the last eighteen years and for the last eleven years he has been instrumental in developing and training promising leaders seeking to improve their leadership skills.
Stephen has been heavily involved in community development with non and for profit organizations seeking to mobilize their people into active engaged participants in communities where they serve. He was the lead writer for the Urban Studies curriculum for North Central University’s Urban Studies program. This curriculum has been replicated nationally for several other colleges and universities. Stephen currently teaches courses for North Central University in Urban Studies and Youth Developmental studies and serves as advisors for the Urban Development majors.
As a motivational speaker and trainer he has delivered transforming messages to churches, schools, camps, and rallies of thousands of audiences all over the nation and in 13 countries. With expertise in, leadership development, teamwork, diverse environments, experiential education, and community transformation Stephen challenges traditional thinking by inspiring change through creative experiences. As a consultant he has also assisted several Minnesota companies by training sales staff, increasing profitability, and managing their teams more effectively.
Stephen obtained his undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from North Central University, a Master of Divinity from Bethel University, and is currently a Doctoral candidate in Emerging Leadership at Bethel University. He resides in Minneapolis, MN with his wife Tiffany and daughter Chloe who serve as his most fulfilling leadership opportunity.

Program Director
Education: B.S. in Business Administration and Urban Studies from North Central University in Minneapolis; Master’s of Community Ministry Leadership at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul.
Rachel has served with the Urban Leadership Academy for the last 10 years in a variety of capacities, using her skills to make the organization more effective. She has led as a teacher, summer staff coordinator, mentoring director, and is now the program director. Rachel has experience in training youth and ministry teams in the Twin Cities and nationally, as well as writing curriculum and consulting non-profits and ministries.
Rachel was the Children’s Pastor at Christ Church International in Minneapolis for 6 years, working to minister to children, youth and families in a diverse, multi-cultural church. She has also taught as an adjunct professor at North Central University in the Business Administration department. Rachel and her husband James have two lovely daughters Junia and Lillian.

Jamey Johnson is a leader, communicator, pastor, artist, racial reconciliation activist, and spiritual coach, who specializes in the field of developing emotionally healthy leaders and unleashing organizational change, diversity, creativity, innovation and leadership.
For over 15 years he has been committed to creating urban environments that encourage the creative potential in children, youth and adults. Jamey is the catalyst and founder of Purple Crayon Creative Coaching. Purple Crayon mission is to focus on positively impacting multi-ethnic communities by leading and coaching people in their holistic fitness potential (the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual).
Jamey passionately engages such issues as personal and organizational change, emotional health, creativity, innovation, fitness, multi-ethnic reconciliation, the power of teamwork, and leadership. He has spoken at churches, schools, non-profit organizations, and universities.
Jamey serves as one of the pastors of Christ Church International, a multi-ethnic church community in Minneapolis, MN. His role as pastor focuses on creativity, communicating, connections, counseling/coaching, and leadership development.
Jamey also has led and communicated to young people in an urban context for over 15 years. He has served as an urban youth pastor, and as communicator/teacher with Urban Leadership Academy.
Jamey is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is a Starbucks enthusiast. He is a graduate of North Central University and Bethel Theological Seminary. He and his wife Edwinna have been married for fourteen years, and live in Minnesota, and have an Italian Greyhound named, “Valentino.”
Teacher
B.A., University of Minnesota; M.Div., Fuller Theological Seminary; M.S., Mankato State University; Ed.D. candidate, University of St. Thomas; Director of Youth Ministries and Professor of Biblical Theology at Bethel University, with a special interest in experiential education. Karen is a minister at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis. She has been the chair of the Bethel Anti-Racism and Reconciliation Commission.
